EnjoyMyMedia's guiding philosophy is that since it is your personal media, you should have total control over how it is distributed and who can access it. That is why we are the only company that ensures:
1. Only authorized subscribers can access the personal media in your channelsAfter clicking on an item in you channel, and before they can see its media, subscribers have to log in to prove that they are an authorized subscriber for that specific channel. Because this authorization is valid for 24 hours, valid subscribers only have to log in once per day. 2. Only you can authorize someone to subscribe to your channels. You are the only one can can allow people to subscribe to your channel. This means, for example, that an invitation you send to Mary, if forwarded to Bill, will not work for Bill. |

3. A channel is private and is not a public Web siteWith EnjoyMyMedia, your shared personal media is only accessible from within your private, password-protected Channel and is not on available on a public Web site. This means search engines can not find nor index your personal media. 4. You can allow or not allow subscribers to forward your individual mediaYou can specifically choose to permit (or not) a channel’s subscribers to forward its media to their own friends and family. Upon forwarding, the media is automatically placed into a new channel thereby ensuring EnjoyMyMedia’s privacy and tracking controls will apply. Unlike e-mail forwarding, Safe Forwarding provides you the ability to control and monitor your personal media as it is redistributed. 5. You will not find a search box on our homepageWe understand you are not interested in sharing your personal media with total strangers. That is why visitors to EnjoyMyMedia.com can not search for "interesting" media. If you've made a hilarious video and you're sure it will be viewed 1,000 times by 1,000 strangers, post it on YouTube. If, on the other hand, yo have recorded your toddler's first steps and you are sure it will be viewed 1,000 times by 4 people -- the baby's technophobic Grandparents -- EnjoyMyMedia is for you. 6. Can anyone get at my computer, folders or content? The very design of EnjoyMyMedia ensures that only the contents of the folders you choose to Netcast are available to your subscribers, and no other folders or files are accessible. Subscribers only have access to a standard RSS-feed, which is simply an XML file. They do not have any programmatic access to a Netcaster’s computer. RSS is by design secure: when you subscribe to a NY Times or BBC feed you have no way to “see” other files on the NY Times or BBC computers. Furthermore, only someone sitting at the PC can Netcast a folder—it cannot be done from the Web (for example, even the ‘Create New Channel’ button on your My Channels page simply launches the Wizard on your PC). This means, therefore, that there is no way for a remote user to “get at” any of your other folders. 7. Extra precautions when it comes to childrenWe require all new users to indicate their age when signing up. If they are under 13, we voluntarily follow the U.S. law that protects the privacy of children (see the COPPA faq ). We are doing this even though the law does not apply to us (since EnjoyMyMedia is 'not directed to children') and the risk of negative disclosure is really pretty small (since EnjoyMyMedia Channels are private and only go to trusted friends & family, not strangers). Nonetheless, since protecting privacy is of paramount importance to us (especially children's privacy), we are pleased to voluntarily take these additional steps. |
